🌱 Gratitude, Judgment, and Growing Up
Harvard research found the average adult has the emotional intelligence of a 16-year-old. The good news - emotional intelligence can grow.
Gratitude is one of the best tools you have:
- Releases dopamine and serotonin
- Reduces cortisol
- Makes it impossible to stay angry
- Shifts focus from teammates' flaws to the shared mission
Building your judgment muscle:
Share your quick gut reactions along with the reasons behind them. You do not have to act on every judgment - just be honest about it. Like Messi anticipating where the ball will go, fast accurate judgment is a trained skill.
Today, one person with a phone can do what once took 10,000 people. That means everyone needs leadership skills that used to belong only to those at the very top.
Be consistent. People who can be counted on receive better feedback and build stronger teams.
