How to Prepare a Whole Fish at Home 🔪

Preparing a whole fish at home is easier than it looks - just follow these simple steps!

Beginner method:

  1. Chop off the head
  2. Remove the wider section near the head
  3. Cut off the tail
  4. Gently separate meat from bones along the skeleton
  5. Remove any small remaining bones

More confident method:

  1. Remove spikes first to avoid bitterness and injury
  2. Cut diagonally along the natural line near the gills
  3. Run knife carefully along the skeleton to lift the fillet

For raw fish (sashimi-style):

  • Cut fillets in half and press firmly while removing skin
  • Serve with lemon, olive oil, orange slices, or tomatoes

Take your time, be gentle, and you will be surprised how easy it gets!
