How to Pick the Best Fish 🐟
Picking good fish is easier than you think once you know what to look for!
What to check at the fish market:
- Eyes - should be clear and bright, not cloudy or wrinkled
- Body - stiff and straight, not floppy or bendable
- Gills - bright pink or red, never brown
- Flesh - firm and holds its shape when lifted
Best time to buy fish: May to September. By late spring, fish are fat, strong, and full of flavor after swimming hard all winter.
Surprising fact: Fish from darker, murkier waters actually taste better than fish from clear blue tropical seas. Those dark waters are packed with tiny organisms that make fish stronger and more flavorful.
