🎯 Feedback Is Your Navigation System
Why You Can't Always Trust Yourself
In uncertain situations, your own judgment gets clouded by fear, bias, and blind spots. At some point, you genuinely can't tell what's real and what's just in your head.
This is why feedback from another human being isn't optional — it's your navigation system.
The Hard Truth About Feedback
Most people don't actually want feedback. They want a compliment.
Real feedback means:
- Exposing the things you don't want to expose
- Being curious about your own weaknesses first
- Letting go of ego protection
Three States to Know
- Thriving — calm, clear, operating well. This is the goal.
- Surviving — getting by, but not performing well.
- Startled — easily triggered, burning energy, breaking things.
You need to stay in thriving mode to take in real information and make good decisions.
Emotional Control Is an Active Skill
This isn't about being nice or empathetic. It's about training yourself to:
- Stay calm under pressure
- Seek real feedback, not just approval
- Find the right teammate who makes you better over time
If you're not improving, it's the wrong feedback from the wrong person.
