🔄 Why Honest Feedback is Your Superpower
Why Honest Feedback is Your Superpower
Most people have this completely backwards. We love hearing nice things, but comforting lies keep us stuck.
The truth about feedback:
- Comforting lies feel great now but block growth
- Unpleasant truths feel terrible now but create real improvement
The Blind Spot Problem
The most valuable feedback lives in your blind spots - things you cannot see about yourself. When someone points one out, it can feel like getting punched out of nowhere.
Wrong response: Argue back and make them defend their point. This tells people never to be honest with you again.
Right response: Say thank you, then show improvement through your actions.
The Nvidia Approach
Jensen Huang gives feedback publicly because feedback is learning, and there is no reason only one person should benefit from a lesson.
When everyone hears the same feedback, everyone grows together.
