💪 Own Your Weaknesses Before They Own You
The Thing You Fear Saying Is the Thing That Controls You
In 8 Mile, Eminem goes first in a battle rap — a huge disadvantage. His move? He owns every weakness himself before his opponent can use it against him. It works.
The lesson: when you take control of your own weaknesses, nobody else has power over them.
A Big Warning First
Do NOT make a public video listing your weaknesses. The internet has snipers, and you could seriously damage your reputation.
Instead, start small and safe:
- Pick one trusted person
- Own a weakness out loud to them
- Slowly grow that circle over time
The 2% Rule of Change
Anything living — including you — can only handle small changes at a time. Try to change too much too fast and your system shuts down.
Start with just one hour a week. Build from there.
Stop Thinking in Binary
You are not either broken or amazing. Think in ranges:
- If a skill is at a 3, just work on getting to a 4
- Small, honest, accurate progress beats dramatic swings every time
The Bottom Line
- Growing feels like abundance
- Only fixing problems feels like anger
- Be mission-focused, not ego-focused
- Show up for what's required of you — not just how you feel
