🛒 Picking the Right Tomato for the Right Job
Not all tomatoes are the same. Picking the right one makes your food taste so much better.
Best tomato for sauces: Plum or Roma tomatoes
- Slightly longer with a small tip
- Used in most Italian canned products
Best tomato for salads: Vine or beefsteak tomatoes
- Meatier and great when sliced
Storage tips:
- Never store tomatoes in the fridge
- Keep them at room temperature
- If refrigerated by accident, let them sit out for 2-3 hours before eating
- Always rinse before eating
Picking the best ones: Look for tomatoes that are slightly soft when gently pressed. Hard tomatoes usually mean less flavor.
