πΊοΈ Building Momentum When You Don't Have All the Answers
In uncertain territory, focus on momentum in the right direction rather than fixating on a massive end goal.
One of the most common mistakes is jumping to what to do too soon β before you've built any real learning. There's a big difference between:
- Doing things to get it right
- Doing things to get the outcome
- Doing things to learn
Sitting longer in the learning phase and getting feedback sooner is worth practicing.
The 1-1-3 Framework:
- 1 week β how are you creating and shipping momentum right now?
- 1 month β checkpoints toward your bigger direction
- 3 months β high-level blocks, not detailed plans
Important catch: this framework works best after momentum already exists. Apply it too early and it just becomes a to-do list.
Momentum isn't always a straight line β sometimes you have to deal with conflict and get other people on board. Recognizing you're in a fight for momentum keeps you honest about what's actually working.
