😰 Two Types of Uncertainty Responses: Fear vs Frustration
When facing uncertainty, people typically default to one of two responses: fear-based (Type 1) or frustration-based (Type 2).
Type 1 individuals get hijacked by fear and often use phrases like
'I fear if I say this...'
'I fear if I don't do this...'
They tend to retreat, avoid difficult conversations, and experience nervous energy.
Type 2 individuals get hijacked by frustration and frequently say things like
'I'm so frustrated that so-and-so isn't doing this.'
They focus on what others should be doing and experience annoyed energy.
While everyone experiences both, most people lean heavily toward one type when triggered. The key is identifying your primary tendency first, as trying to work on both simultaneously is counterproductive since they require opposite approaches.
