💡 How to Be a Great Mentee (Not Just Find a Great Mentor)
Here is a shocking stat: 96% of mentor-mentee relationships fail. Finding a great mentor is only half the job — you also have to be a great mentee.
Hold yourself to high standards. At Google, 95 out of 100 was the bare minimum. We expect a lot from leaders — expect the same from yourself.
Be HOT:
- Humble
- Open
- Transparent
Avoid being ICKY:
- Entitled
- Closed-minded
- Hidden
To build trust with a mentor:
- Show up HOT
- Be genuinely grateful
- Always follow through
No one wants to mentor someone who is ICKY. Be the mentee people want to invest in.
