⚡ Fight for Your Best Energy: How to Win in the Present
Fight for Your Best Energy
Most of us live in two places mentally: the future (wanting control) and the past (carrying regret). Your best energy needs to be in the present - and you have to fight to keep it there.
The formula: Performance = Potential - Impediments
Pressing the gas and brakes at the same time = burnout. No movement.
The downside trap:
Adding vivid detail to worst-case scenarios doesn't help you change anything right now. It just steals your energy. It's like reliving trauma that hasn't happened yet.
The better approach:
- Keep the downside fuzzy - just know you'll be okay
- Pour detailed energy into the upside - visualize winning
Your brain is a prediction machine:
- Predict danger = get tight and frozen
- Predict manageability = get smooth and flexible
