🧠 Metacognition: The Superpower of Watching Your Own Mind

LIP #294
Friday

Metacognition = thinking about your own thinking while it is happening.

It is considered the highest form of intelligence — and most people never practice it.

Why It Is So Hard

Your ego hates self-examination. Looking inward feels like an attack on yourself. But here is the truth:

If you are standing in the way of your own momentum, that is on you.

The Key Insight

Observation weakens impulse reactions. When you can see what you are doing, you are far more likely to do the right thing.

Finding Your Bugs

Think of yourself like a piece of code. Your automatic behaviors are your code — and there are bugs in there.

  • Look for thematic errors — patterns that keep repeating
  • The most dangerous bugs are your blind spots — the ones you cannot see at all

The people most convinced they have no bugs usually have the most.
