🪞 Lead Yourself First: Knowing Who You Are

LIP #292
Aug 27, 2026

Before you can lead anyone else, you have to start with yourself.

Two people did a self-reflection exercise and discovered something interesting — they saw themselves in completely different ways.

  • One defined herself through relationships (wife, mother, partner)
  • The other defined herself through things she loves (dancing, music, games)

Neither is wrong. Everyone has a different starting point.

Leadership is not just for CEOs. Whether you are a parent, a partner, or just figuring out your own life, you are already in a leadership role.

One powerful tool for self-understanding is visceral drafting — writing down your raw, honest thoughts without overthinking. When you put things on paper, you see yourself more clearly.

The other big idea? Show up consistently, even when you do not feel like it. That is what builds real confidence.
