The biggest challenge in modern leadership is developing self-drive, which is closely connected to agency - the raw determination to make things happen without waiting for permission.

Raw honesty serves as the fundamental building block of agency. However, our systems have conditioned us against exercising agency for over a hundred years:

• From early schooling through corporate structures, we've been hardwired to follow predetermined paths
• We seek external approval rather than develop self-direction
• The education system emphasizes conformity over agency

This conditioning becomes more difficult to overcome the more successful someone is within traditional systems. The critical dividing line in our economy is shifting from skill or education to will - essentially one's agency, drive, and determination to create their own path.
