🎯 Low Agency vs. High Agency: Taking Control of Your Life
There are two fundamental approaches to life: Low Agency and High Agency.
Low Agency people:
- React to circumstances
- Follow social scripts
- Blame external factors for failures
- Become pawns in someone else's game
- Operate in 'react mode' - constantly responding to what happens around them
High Agency people:
- Bend reality to their will
- Don't accept 'no' as a final answer
- Don't wait for permission
- Make things happen through willpower and strategic action
- Operate in 'create mode'
The modern workplace increasingly demands high agency people who can take things in new directions rather than just following orders. While some people naturally fit this mindset, it's ultimately a skill that can be developed through practice. Companies need more people who don't just get in the boat and row, but can navigate toward meaningful goals.
