🏠 Basic Fermentation: Simple Steps for Beginners

Making fermented vegetables requires just 4 basic ingredients:

🥕 Ingredients:

  • Vegetables (carrots, cabbage, etc.)
  • Water (tap water is fine)
  • Salt
  • Appropriate jar (1-2 quart)

📏 Salt Ratios:

  • 2 tablespoons for cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon for carrots

🔧 Process:

  • Don't over-sanitize jars (simple rinse only)
  • Pack tightly to minimize oxygen
  • Use your hands - they contain beneficial bacteria!
  • 5 days at room temperature

💧 What to expect: Liquid will accumulate at bottom due to osmosis - this is normal and healthy!
