The further ahead you plan, the more you are just making things up. People adapt constantly, so plans go stale fast.

The concept of earning your problems:

AIS spent $100 million building for 10 million users that never came - they went out of business
Twitter kept crashing because real users actually showed up - they earned their problem and solved it

That is the difference between healthy growth and wasted effort.

The Gated Process: Start small, test results, and only add more resources when performance actually justifies it.
