๐Ÿ›’ How to Eat Real Food โ€” Reading Labels and Choosing Wisely

LIP #289
Aug 06, 2026

The core rule of eating well is simple: if it comes from nature, it is food.

Watch out for sneaky labels:
The FDA only requires the top 10 ingredients to be listed. Harmful additives used in tiny amounts never have to appear โ€” so always read what you can.

What to look for:

  • Olive oil: pure olive oil only, not a blend
  • Balsamic vinegar: made from grapes, no corn syrup
  • Soy sauce: just 4 ingredients โ€” water, soy, wheat, koji

Best fish choices:

  • Sardines and mackerel โ€” small, clean, low in heavy metals
  • Avoid big tuna (bluefin, yellowfin) โ€” heavy metals and overfishing
  • Canned bonito tuna is fine

Simple truth: A sweet potato costs almost nothing and is one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. Eating well is more affordable than most people think.
