🐴 How School and Work Trained Us to Stop Thinking

LIP #204
Sep 12, 2024

For a long time, the world ran on the Industrial Age, where the goal was to create workers who followed instructions without asking questions.

Imagine a horse in Central Park with blinders on. It can only look straight ahead. Schools and workplaces did the same thing to people using rules and rewards.

The result? People learned to:

  • Avoid questioning things
  • Figure out what the authority figure wants to hear
  • Focus only on the task in front of them

This conditioning is still affecting us today. Recognizing it is the first step to thinking for yourself.
