The Power of Truth:
- Has incredible power to change us as humans
- Only works when delivered intensely and consistently
- Humans naturally avoid truth because it's painful
Strong Relationships Defined:
'So strong you can hear and bear the weight of truth'
- Allow free speaking and thinking out loud
- Enable pursuit and exploration of truth
- Support risk-taking and decision-making
Risk-Taking as Team Sport:
- Shame and pain of failure too difficult to bear alone
- Need someone who has processed decisions with you
- Support system helps you survive failures and learn
The Danger of Avoidance:
- Defensive mechanisms make us 'hard to coach'
- Prevents activation of learning muscle
- Leads to isolation - the biggest consequence
- Depletes energy, leaving no capacity for productive risks
