💪 The Hard Hat Mentality: Doing the Work Before You Feel Ready
The idea that you should wake up every morning on fire with purpose? That is mostly a hindsight story.
Think about nurses during COVID putting on their scrubs every morning, knowing they could bring a deadly disease home. They were not leaping out of bed excited. They just showed up. That is the hard hat mentality.
The order of operations most people get backwards:
- Do your primary mental work first — figure out what you want and start on it
- Then eat, work out, do your routines
Do not burn your best morning brain energy on breakfast decisions or workout planning. The mind is the primary muscle.
The key insight:
You do not need passion or purpose to start. You just have to do it. From doing the work, you build pride — and that pride becomes its own fuel over time.
Stop waiting to feel ready. Put on the hard hat. Go.
