Recovery in fitness measures how quickly you bounce back physically, but mental recovery is different and equally important.

Key Insight: There's a crucial distinction between physical and mental breaks:

  • Taking a walk doesn't help if your mind is still processing problems
  • Unlike physical activity where you can force yourself to stop, your brain continues worrying
  • Mental recovery requires learning to give your mind a true break, not just your body
