We don't suffer from challenging situations themselves, but from the meaning we attach to them.

Your brain doesn't simply record experiences - it assigns meaning through:

  • Pattern recognition
  • Storytelling
  • Connecting past patterns with future projections

Two types of meaning-making:

Helpful meaning-making: You make better choices over time, trending toward improvement

Destructive meaning-making: You put in energy but see no progress or things get worse

The challenge: Society increasingly trains people to lose their own judgment and opinions.

The solution: Learn to capture and express your visceral reactions - your authentic initial responses to situations. This is your personal judgment and taste, which becomes increasingly valuable in our AI-driven world.
